Issue #96

Hello everyone,

WWDC 2024 was an exhilarating experience filled with exciting announcements, engaging discussions, and incredible networking opportunities. From traveling across the Bay Area to diving deep into the latest Apple technologies, last week was unforgettable. Here's a detailed recap of my adventures and key moments from this year's conference.

My Travels to California

Traveling to California was an adventure in itself. I learned the ins and outs of driving a ten-year-old electric car around the Bay Area, which was both challenging and rewarding. Meeting fans of this newsletter and podcast, as well as members of the Swift team at Apple, were among the highlights of my trip. The passion and enthusiasm shared by everyone I met were truly inspiring.

iOSDevHappyHour Watch Party

The keynote this year introduced several intriguing features, including Apple Intelligence and Genmoji. While I am still in a wait-and-see mode regarding these innovations, the potential they hold is promising.

The watch party was fantastic, thanks to the wonderful hosting by Mikaela and Frank from the iOS DevHappyHour group. The environment was electric, and the engagement from the community was palpable.

My episode with Peter discussing the State of the Union.

I also took some time out of my schedule to record our annual State of the Union episode with Peter Witham. We discuss the 10th anniversary of Swift as well as Apple Intellegence. You can check out the episode here.

I had the privilege of hosting a panel discussing the Keynote and State of the Union at the One More Thing Conference organized by J'aime Ohm. Joining me on the panel were experts Tim Mitra, Chris Eidhof, and Vincent Pradeilles. We delved into the implications of the new announcements and shared our insights. The discussion was great and I can’t wait for the video of the panel to be up soon.

I also did a talk on Continuous Integration (CI) and DevOps focused on showcasing practical tips, tools, and techniques to streamline development workflows. I highlighted the power of tools like Tuist and Xcodegen for creating Xcode projects and using Fastlane match to manage certifications and provisioning profiles. The audience's positive response was incredibly encouraging, confirming the value of these practices.

Lastly, I, along with Mikaela Caron and Michael Critz, assisted attendees interested in Swift on the Server. It was a fantastic opportunity to share our knowledge and help others dive into this exciting area of development.

Looking for Swift Experts?

Speaking of being an expert, I'm also open to taking on new projects in 2024. If you or someone you know needs help with Swift, macOS, iOS, server-side, watchOS, or even Vision Pro or Apple TV development, feel free to reach out to me.

The Talk Show Live From WWDC 2024

I was excited to attend The Talk Show Live in person. It featured prominent guests like John Giannandrea, Craig Federighi, and Greg Joswiak. The main topics revolved around Apple Intelligence and the innovative Private Cloud Compute done in Swift. The discussions were enlightening, offering deep insights into the future direction of Apple's technology.

WWDC Community Event

The WWDC Community Event was a vibrant gathering. Timirah James did a great job! It was a great platform for networking and sharing ideas. I had the pleasure of meeting notable attendees like Holly Borra and Ben Cohen, who shared insights from their recent podcast appearance. I look forward to having them on the EmpowerApps.Show soon. Additionally, engaging with Tony, Ted, and several other members of the Swift Team was a highlight of the event.
